Just an interesting conversation I had with a fellow coach. He was of the opinion that the elite leagues, i.e. Premier, should be made up of the clubs with the best facilities and not just those who perform best at the Small Sided Section. Teams such as Cherry Orchard and Crumlin United are two very succesful clubs, hence the name is attractive for players. However the facilities of both clubs leaves a lot to be desired for. Does it not make sense to earn your place at the elite level based on your facilities, as you are better suited to facilitating elite players. Anyone else a view on this? I tend to think there could be something behind this. But of course quality coaching has to come into the equation also. (BEFORE ANYONE TRIES TO START AN ARGUMENT I HAVE NO ISSUE OR PROBLEM WITH EITHER OF THE NAMED CLUBS, MERELY USING TWO EXAMPLES OF ELITE CLUBS)

I would not try and change the club or league set up but I go further and say that five or six Academies or Centers of Excellence should be set up around the city, not affiliated to any club or league, choosing the best of the best players in the Greater Dublin Area, using the best facilities and coaches to develop the best athletes and players. These academies would be free of charge to attend but would have a very strict attendence policies. They would play 'friendlies' each week among themselves and other acadamies throughout Ireland. These academies would be government and FAI funded. These Academies would be the gateway into the FAI and Ireland underage teams. Each player and and his parents would be appointed a mentor to help take care of each player and his parents need to include free health care for the young player.

QUALITY COACHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CLUB NAME OR FACILITIES' GOOD COACHING IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT' A YOUNG PLAYER WHO IS PROPERLY COACHED WILL IMPROVE WITH TIME AND STAND SOME CHANCE OF PLAYING A GOOD STANDARD OF FOOTBALL LATER ON' THE TEAMS YOU MENTIONED DEVELOPTHEPLAYERS HAVE PRODUCED GOOD PLAYERS WITH NOT THE BEST OF FACILITIES SO THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT WITH THE COACHING ' LOOK AT PEAMOUNT FC AND THE FACILITIES THEY HAVE ' YET THEY DONT HAVE A PREMIER TEAM AT ANY AGE OUT OF 28 TEAMS IN THE CLUB' AND PLAYERS LEAVEING OVER POOR COACHING RE 14S MAJOR' WHAT GOOD ARE THE FACILITIES IF THE COACHING IS NOT GOOD
