It is unfortunate that in some cases, coaches decide to break the rules for short term gain but it is hardly surprising given the highly competetive nature of football at the youngest ages in this country. I think the NDSL have taken a positive step in rolling out ID cards to try and erradicate this problem. I understand that it is currently under discussion at the DDSL and this can only be welcomed. At Bohemians, we are looking at the option of player ID cards to allow us to prove, if questioned, that we adhere to the rules.

I will hold off on naming and shaming them but I do think that would be the right thing to do. The reason I'm holding off is because I am led to believe that the club in question have spoken to the manager about it but if I hear or see it happen again then it will be name and shame time. It is an U-14 Major team (and its not Peamount) who are struggling at the moment. But as someone said it is just down to the manager's ego and wanting to win which is very sad indeed.
