I was at a game this morning involving St Pats 14s v Broadford. In the latter stages of the game one of the Pats players committed a horrendous challenge on the opposition goalkeeper. It was clearly intentional as the offender and his team mates proceeded to laugh at the poor kid. As he was receiving treatment his father came on to the pitch to check on his son, the referee rightly asked him to leave the field to which he responded that the foul was intentional and the ref should take action. However what followed shocked me. The parent of the player who committed the foul ran over and abused the injured child's father shouting that's my son, words were exchanged which I'd rather not repeat on the forum. It appeared the injured child's father had no interest in an argument and continuously attempted to walk away, however the other parent got right up in his face and threw a disguised punch before going to the injured kid and shouting look there is nothing wrong with him, when clearly the goalkeeper was in agony on the ground. Such behaviour is unacceptable, managers need to take action against offending parents, and if it means getting rid of the kid because of the parent then so be it in my view.

Shocking story but unfortunately all too common at present. What action did referee take with player and parent, if any?

I hope the injured lad recovered. The instinct of a good parent is to run to their injured child. Ok the father shouldn't have encroached but to be attack ed by the other man is dreadful. Two sides here of human nature, kindness and anger.

I hope the young lad (goalkeeper) is ok. As for the parent of the lad who fouled the keeper, the club should ban the parent from ever attending any future games. The parent of the gaolkeeper should make a complaint to their own club, the club who the other parent belongs to & the league complaints board. We need to rid our childrens games from violent parents.
