Just seven points off the top of the table with 14 matches remaining, Derry City are still in with a chance of bringing the Premier Division title to the Brandywell. However, the Candystripes already have one title wrapped-up - they have been voted as the League's best fans!
A supporter's poll on eircomloi.ie, the official eircom League of Ireland website, has seen Derry City overwhelmingly voted as the fans who create the best atmosphere.
With almost 4,000 votes registered the Brandywell faithful were the clear winners, receiving 50% of the vote.
The Dalymount roar also received a large backing, with 23% of participants voting the Bohemian faithful as the league's best.
Bohs fans certainly have a lot to cheer about in 2008, as do supporters of Cork City who received 8% of the total vote.
Noel Mooney, Club Promotions Officer for the FAI, said that Derry City supporters can always be counted on to create a carnival atmosphere.
"The atmosphere at the Brandywell is always electric and Derry City fans bring that with them wherever they play, be it in Ireland or abroad", said Mooney. "You can't beat the special atmosphere at eircom League of Ireland matches - our fans can always be relied upon to bring passion, colour and noise with them wherever they go."
