AMATEUR SHORTS

Meath and District League giants, Kentstown, may have Meath GAA football hero, Graham Geraghty, in their ranks, but not even he could prevent last season's Statoil FAI Junior Cup quarter-finalists from slumping to their fourth defeat of the season last weekend.

The premier division side, who surprised all before them by reaching the last 16 of Europe's largest amateur cup competition lost out to league leaders Bellurgan 2-1 on Sunday.

However, the Ireland Combined Rules international, Geraghty, did managed to get on the scoresheet for Kentstown with a header, but it was not enough to give the Meath side the victory.
