MORLEY'S SEARCH FOR GLORY

Cork City forward, Pat Morley, believes the Leesiders won't be too far away when they are handing out the trophies at the end of the season.

"Our objective at the start was just to have a real go at it," said Morley.

"The standard of the league has certainly picked up over the past few seasons and there is now a number of teams that are in with a real shout.

"Bray put their heads down last season and produced an excellent season. We're confident we can do well, and I think we'll be there or thereabouts at the end of the campaign."

Cork have recently steadied the ship in the league, but it was certainly a slow start to the campaign for Liam Murphy's side.

"The biggest problem is that we were jumping in straight after playing in Europe and there is no doubt that it does take its toll," added Morley.

"It was a frustrating start but that's behind us now and we must concentrate on the future."

Cork are on the back of a 1-0 defeat away to Derry, but Morley felt aggrieved that a perfectly good goal wasn't allowed to stand.

"It was definitely a goal, but unfortunately it just amazingly wasn't allowed to stand. It was annoying but again we have to forget about the incident and focus on the next game."
