Black Cats manager, Peter Reid, has admitted that he has approached Blackburn Rovers about the possibility of bringing the former Liverpool winger to the Stadium of Light, ahead of Sunderland's clash with Bolton this weekend.
However, Rovers manager, Graeme Souness, has denied receiving a bid for the midfielder.
"We have had no bid from Sunderland or anyone else," said Souness. "I think this is just an example of agent work."
