GAME OF THE WEEK

NDSL Under 9 Murial Cup

Home Farm 0 St Kevins 4

St Kevins Boys produced a brilliant performance to record a surprising 4-0 victory over local rivals Home Farm, in the NDSL Under-9 Cup at the VEC Whitehall on Saturday morning.

A brace from Anthony Foran and goals from Brian Conway and an unfortunate Eric Wall own goal ensured the Saints secured a notable victory over the Farm.

Match favourites, Home Farm, would have fancied their chances against a Kevins team who play in the division below them in the league.

But as has been proved many times before in local derbies, form goes out the window.

This was apparent from the tip-off, with the visitors dominating the early play. Dave Whelan's side were rewarded for their superior possesion after 15 minutes, when Conway produced a brilliant piece of skill to lob goalkeeper David Butler from a wide angle.

Farm had their chances and could have levelled, with both Eoin Fowler and Wall going close for the home side.

Kevins doubled their lead on the final whistle of the second quarter, Foran grabbing his first after a brilliant ball from Conway.

Two goals in as many minutes in the final quarter wrapped the tie up for Kevins and ensures they are in the pot for the second round draw.

Home Farm: David Butler, Sean Corcoran, Keane Murray, Karl Doyle, Conor Cavanagh, Eric Wall, Shane Carbury, Chris Keegan, Eoin Fowler.

St Kevins Boys: Ben Dale, Eoghan Phelan, Simon Longmore, Alan White, Grahan Raynor, Anthony Foran, Mark Whelan, Brian Conway, David Mulcahy, Lucu Garriccio.
