STELLA WIN TWO CUPS IN WALES

Stella Maris from Dublin kept the Irish flag flying in the Ian Rush Tournament in Wales when they won the U14 and U17 Cup Finals.

ABERYSTWYTH SELECT CUP Under 14

Stella Maris 2 v Stockport County 0

Stuart Glenn hit two second half goals against Stockport County to land Stella Maris their first trophy of the Tournament.

Playing with the wind at their back in the first half Stella failed to convert a number of goalworthy chances and looked to be in trouble as they turned around into the breeze for the second half.

Stuart scored two inside ten minutes early in the second half to secure a creditable win against tough opposition. Gary Munnelly the Stella manager was delighted with his side'serformance when he said:

"We were beaten in the Dublin Final and the semi final of the All Ireland so I'm delighted the boys have got something out of the year they certainly deserve it.

UNDER 17 HALO CUP FINAL

Stella Maris 2- 0 Protec

Dave Conways side added another trophy to their successful season when they were good value for a 2 - 0 win over Protec from London in the final of the under 17 HALO CUP.

Brian Warren and Shane Lynch hit a goal a piece as the Dubliners worked hard as a team to beat a Paul Elliot London selection brimming with individually talented boys. 3rd / 4th PLAYOFF Under 12

OAKVILLE RED DEVILS 1 v HOME FARM FC 2

Home Farm gained some comfort from their semi final defeat when they beat a big strong Canadian team with more ease than the scoreline suggests.

Joe McGuiness and Glen Humpheries, the Farm management duo, refused to dwell on what might have been and were happy with what they actually achieved, Humperies said:"This has been a greta learning experience for the boys, a tournament I'm sure they will remember when they are old, that's what it's all about. 3rd / 4th PLAYOFF Under 13

Stella Maris 0 - 2 TSPA Galaxy

Peter Akano's injury hit squad having disposed of Stockport in the semi final were unable to live up to their pre match tag as favourites against a lively American team.

Using a number of player from the under 14 section Stella found the strength of Galaxy just too much to handle and lost to a strike in both halfs.
