MARINO GIRLS BEATEN BY RUSH ATHLETIC

ACTION FROM THE GAME

Rush Athletic picked up their fourth win in five games, as they proved too strong for a brave Marino girls in the Under 12 section of the North Dublin Girls league at the "Bottom Circle."

Rush started the brighter of the two sides and scored after 10minutes when Rebecca Penco struck a fine shot to the back of the net from outside the box. Marino fought back and were unlucky not to score after McKeown, Fitzharris and King put together a fine move only to see the chance go a begging.

The Rush girls were proving to strong for Marino as Penco, McGuiness and Corrigan dominated in their positions. The second goal came from the left when a lobbed ball into the box from Megan Nugent, deceived Phillips in the goal and bounced over the line to give the North County Dubliners a deserved 2-0 half time lead.

In the second half Marino came more into the game but were unlucky to concede a third when a Niamh Mc Guinness shot was spectacularly saved by Phillips in goal only to see the ball forced home after the rebound. Kim Tyrell added a fourth when she got a touch to a corner from the right to put the game beyond doubt and give Rush the three points that keeps them in contention to win the League.

The Rush manager Fran Byrne expressed himself well satisfied after the game "We have been playing well of late the girls are improving all the time and are enjoying it, which is very important"
