Limerick 37 Club News

21 July 2008

Limerick 37 continue their weekly news round up of all their teams from Schoolboys through Ladies and on to the eircom League 1st Division.

Limerick continued their great run with a very impressive 2-0 away win to Monaghan Utd this week. It was Limericks fourth win in a row and fifth game without conceding a goal. Monaghan had not conceded a goal at home in there previous six games so the Limerick result looks all the better. Limerick were in control from the start playing through Monaghan at will, Paul Walshe went close early on when he tried to chip the Monaghan Keeper, who just got back in time to save. Monaghan struggled with the young Limerick teams mobility in attack and after Gary Sheehan made room for himself down the left, his cross was superbly glanced home by Paul Walshe from six yards. Limerick continued to push and were rewarded two minutes later when Davy Ryan burst onto a Jason Hughes ball, which saw him drive into the box and beautifully slot past the Monaghan Keeper from 12 yards. The second half was played in a torrential downpour which was not conducive to good football. Limerick had a few chances on the break in the second half, but failed to capitalise with Gary Sheehan, Davy Ryan and Paul Walshe all missing good chances. Limerick were never in danger of conceding in the whole game as Dave Ryan Limericks Keeper never had any serious save to make all night. The Super Blues were very appreciative of the travelling support who were once again very vocal in support of their team. The expectation is beginning to rise in the Mid West as Limerick who are the form team in Division 1 are now only 11 points off the league leaders and 9 points off joint second with 17 games left in the season. The Super Blues can look forward to a big crowd at home to Wexford Youths this Friday night KO 7.45pm Jackman Park(Beside Colbert Station). The sky is the limit for this Limerick team at present and who knows where this run will finish.
