Shamrock Rovers ready for relocation

Shamrock Rovers, homeless for 21 years since losing Milltown in 1987, will be relocating to Tallaght Stadium for the start of the 2009 season.

With demand for tickets at the new stadium set to phenomenal, the club has set up an online registration process via their website for people interested in purchasing season tickets to submit their details.

With just five 'home' games left at Tolka Park, the countdown has begun in earnest as the Hoops prepare for a welcome return to their natural home on Dublin's Southside.

First up is Friday's derby against Bohemians. Always a highly anticipated game for fans on both sides, this will be the last time the sides meet before the Hoops head for Tallaght.

"With the roof now in place, the stadium is really beginning to take shape," says Rovers' Chairman, Jonathan Roche. "And the floodlights are coming in October.

"Already, a lot of groundwork and preparation has gone on behind the scenes at Rovers and shortly we'll be announcing attractive season ticket packages for the 2009 season."

Priority for Tallaght season tickets will be given to members, current season ticket holders, holders of match programme vouchers, and those who register online at the club's website (www.shamrockrovers.ie).

Says Roche: "The facilities at Tallaght will be impressive and of a superior standard, and we'll be catering for various types of spectators, including a dedicated Family Section and a corporate area.

"In the meantime we'd encourage fans to come to Tolka on Friday in big numbers and support the Hoops as we begin to close this particular chapter in our history," he adds.

"Bohs are flying at the moment, but games between us have been very tight. You can't beat the atmosphere at Rovers-Bohs' games and this should be no different."

Tickets for Friday's game (KO 7.35pm) are available online at www.ticketmaster.ie or from the Shamrock Rovers Club Office at Unit C9, Centrepoint Business Park, Oak Road, Dublin 12
