Monaghan visit Ferrycarrig Park to kick-off crucial fortnight for Youths

18 June 2008

Following the visit of Mick Cooke's side to Ferrycarrig on Friday, Mick Wallace's young charges will travel to Dublin for the replay of their FAI Ford Cup game against Killester on Tuesday. The Youths have two away games against Athlone next Friday in the league and then face UCD in the quarter final of the eircom League Cup four days later, to complete a crucial two weeks that will define Wexford's season.

Wexford coach Noel O'Connor emphasised just how important the next four games are for the club. "The Monaghan game is the start of two very important weeks for the club," O'Connor said. "We have two games a week for the next two weeks but we're not looking too far ahead and need to concentrate on the Monaghan game first.

"Monaghan have had some good results this season and have taken points from Shels and Dundalk, so we'll need a good start against them. The youth players from the All Ireland winning squad that we've brought in recently have done really well and we'll need all of our squad over the next few weeks."
