Sven promised job for life

21 December 2007

Thaksin Shinawatra has told Sven Goran Eriksson he can manage Manchester City for as long as he wants.
The former England coach was named the club's new manager last summer on a three-year contract and handed a massive transfer kitty.
Many of Eriksson's signing have proved quality acquisitions and even Shinawatra himself has been surprised by the club's rapid transformation.
Although the Swedish tactician has plenty of time to run on his existing contract, Shinawatra has already hinted he is ready to tie him down on a longer deal.
Marvellous job
"I think Sven can remain our manager until he retires!" he is quoted in the Daily Star.
"I didn't expect the team would achieve this kind of level. But I did believe that Manchester City could improve a lot.
"And you simply have to hand it to Sven who has done a marvellous job.
"We consider him as a world-class manager. There are not many of them in football but Sven is certainly one of them."
