Addicks rule out Davies

Charlton have withdrawn their interest in Preston manager Billy Davies.

The Addicks were granted permission to hold talks with the Scot on Friday but have opted against naming him as Alan Curbishley's successor.

"I have been informed this morning by Charlton Athletic that they are 'going to move on," Preston chairman Derek Shaw said on the club's official website.

"They will not be pursuing Billy Davies any more and also said they would like to thank Preston North End for our cooperation and apologise for any disruption to our Club.

"I would like to thank Charlton for their professionalism in this matter, as I feel that everything has been done via the book."
