James set for City exit

Manchester City goalkeeper, David James, is being linked with a move to Portsmouth after expressing a desire to leave the City of Manchester Stadium.

The 36-year-old, who signed for City in January 2004 for £2m, is reportedly keen to move closer to his fiancee, who lives in the south of England.

"We have a situation where a player has asked to leave the club in respect to his personal reasons. His reasons are between David and myself but they are common-sense ones that I understand," City manager Stuart Pearce told the club's official website.

"None of them were football-related or anti-Manchester City or anti-Stuart Pearce in any way shape or form. I understand them thoroughly and we had a decent conversation between us."
