Schwarzer slams Uruguay antics

Mark Schwarzer was critical of Uruguay's antics throughout their World Cup play-off encounter.

The Middlesbrough goalkeeper played a huge part in ensuring the South Americans didn't make next summer's World Cup and then accused them of "playing games".

"The Uruguayans had been playing games from day one," he said. "From when we arrived in Uruguay to now in Sydney.

"Even before the game, they were playing games in the tunnel and it was great to put one over on them.

"They put us under a lot of pressure and they weren't playing very sporting."

Australia booked their place at the finals for the first time since 1974 after a 4-2 win on penalties over Uruguay.
