It seems as though Real Madrid are luring top Premiership stars to La Liga a setting back the popular belief that the Premiership is the place to be as Man Utd and Chelsea lost a player apiece this week as Gabriel Heinze and Arjen Robben both joined the La Liga champions this week.
Heinze is the third player in four year to go from Old Trafford to the Barnabeau after David Beckham in 2003 and Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 2006.
Real Madrid's two latest signings are following a trend of signing players from the Premiership from year to year. In addition to Heinze, Beckham (2003-7) and Van Nistelrooy, Madrid have former Liverpool keeper Jerzy Dudek.
The Madrid club previously signed Michael Owen in 2004 and Steve McManaman in 1999.
The transfer of Heinze comes after his failed bid to get a transfer to Liverpool after being turned down by a league committee.
Arjen Robben leaves Chelsea after three seasons, two league titles, two league cups and an FA cup winners medal but this transfer has been talked about for over a year.
For United, it seems the Manchester club will need a forward in the absence of Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha coupled with the suspension of top scorer Christiano Ronaldo.
The premiership champions play host to Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday in a game that has been touted as one that both teams need to win.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will be at home to Portsmouth this Saturday coming off a gifted 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday.
