Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard hailed his side after they lifted the Champions League and in particular had special praise for goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
The Spanish champions came from 1-0 behind to win 2-1 and collect the trophy for only the second time in their history.
"Valdes played a decisive role," said Rijkaard. "He saved us at crucial moments, but to win a game like this, every part of the team has to do his job. Eto'o also did a great job.
"We knew it would be a difficult game against Arsenal. It happens a lot that when one player is sent off, it is even harder to break through.
"They had even more spirit with 10 men. It gave them an even tougher mentality.
"It was an attractive game, though. Arsenal started really well and we grew into the game. The sending-off changed the game dramatically.
"It was a pity for the game, but you have to live with that.
"Even with 10 men, Arsenal were dangerous on the counter-attack.
"They were very organised and we had to wait and wait for the equaliser and that takes strength from the players.
"But we have won the 2006 Champions League and that's the most important thing. That and the joy it has given our fans."
