Golden Ball nominees

Italy have the highest representation with four nominees in the running for Fifa's prestigious Golden Ball award.

The World Cup finalists nominees include, Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta and Gianluigi Buffon, who will be all vying for the coveted title of most valuable player at the 2006 World Cup.

Zinedine Zidane, who will end his playing career after Sunday's final, is also in the running along with French team-mates Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry.

Michael Ballack and Miroslav Klose ensure the hosts are among the elite, while Portugal's Maniche is among the ten named after a sparkling tournament for the beaten semi-finalists.
